Vjeran Miljenovic is a Croatian conceptual artist based in Glasgow, Scotland, working at the intersection of philosophy, visual practice, and phenomenological investigation.
His drawing and painting practice explores consciousness, perception, and the relationship between thinking and making. For over ten years, he has maintained a sustained practice of automatic drawing - spontaneous mark-making that tracks the movement of thought, combining text, image, and gestural notation. These works function as phenomenological data, documenting what it means to be present and attentive across time.
Working primarily with drawing and painting, Vjeran approaches mark-making as a form of inquiry. Automatic drawings investigate internal experience and the movement of consciousness, while observational work examines the act of seeing itself. The practice is informed by Zen meditation, neurodiversity, and the experience of migration across three continents.
Trained in Philosophy and Art (MA, California State University Long Beach) and Museum Studies (BA, University of Zagreb), Vjeran approaches art-making as philosophical investigation - asking questions about perception, attention, and how sustained practice reveals patterns of consciousness.
